Police arrest, release ATV cameraman

PESHAWAR: Police arrested Adnan Tariq, a cameraman of ATV channel, during the funeral prayers of Maulana Hassan Jan.

However, the ATV cameraman was released after being detained for around four hours at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) centre in the Swati Gate area. Tariq told Daily Times that police arrested him when he was filming the procession coming out of the Qayyum Stadium after the funeral prayers of Maulana Hassan Jan. Tariq said the police shifted him to the CIA centre after the arrest.

He said police snatched his mobile and motorcycle keys. He said police officials told him the capital city police officer would come to see the footage of his camera. They suspected him to be one of the troublemakers during the funeral prayers, he added. staff report
